THE BIRD ETHIC: Sculptures by Susan Hagen

On the grounds of the Schuylkill Center, LandLab Resident Artist Susan Hagen has installed a series of miniature dioramas that capture moments from the history of bird conservation and science, and the human impact on bird populations.

Inspired by the writing of Aldo Leopold, Rachel Carson, Christian Cooper and other visionary naturalists, Susan Hagen’s project calls on all of us to develop a new set of ethics towards birds – and to consider the broader implications for the rest of the natural world.
